Dalsouple soft flooring
Dalsouple is a French manufacturer of very high quality rubber flooring. The product varies hugely but the popular choice is 3mm thick smooth "uni" which comes in a vast colour range. There are two main sizes in squares and rectangles.
Dalsouple products are made from natural rubber which is a renewable natural resource therefore it is an environmentally friendly floor covering. Also, over 99% of waste material from production is recycled back into the manufacturing process. It is recyclable at the end of it's service life too.
Being a lot thinner than most flooring products floor levels are not drastically changed from one room to another. Dalsouple has a unique soft feel that is wonderful underfoot. Ideal for bathroom floors, playrooms, kitchens and also great for more specialised areas like workshop floors or for insulating against noise to a room below. For childrens playgrounds a range of rubber crumb tiled surfacing is ideal for under swings or climbing frames to make a safety area outside, this needs fitting professionally of course. It should be noted that natural rubber can be affected by ultra-violet light once installed and in some circumstances can result in shading.
Price varies on thickness, budget around £75-£80 per sq.mtr inc delivery & VAT at 3mm thick for small rooms, however the larger the quantity the lower the cost per sq.mtr. Lead time is around 4 weeks. Be aware rubber is quite heavy - most online retailers do not include the VAT or delivery when quoting the price.
The Alternative Tile Co is the Midlands area appointed retailer for Dalsouple.
We can recommend an excellent fitter who makes a first class job of any necessary preparation and the precise fitting of your rubber floor. The rates are very reasonable and travelling a distance is not a problem as long as the fuel and time is taken into account.

Although Dalsouple recommend using a specialised stripper and polish on their tiles we find that the simple application of Autoglym car bumper care is excellent. It helps to protect the rubber against staining and gives a lovely satin sheen. Once the Autoglym has been applied then a regular mop over with plain water is all that is required to keep the floor looking good. More Autoglym can be applied to both polish the floor and remove most marks - even marker pen if caught soon enough. |
